Optimization and techno-economic analysis of a solar photo-voltaic/biomass/diesel/battery hybrid off-grid power generation system for rural remote electrification in eastern India

This work presents a case study for powering energy poor remote rural communities of Eastern India with locally available solar, biomass, diesel resources using Hybrid Optimization Model Electric Renewables tool to identify the optimized system architecture. The selection has been based on performance assessment resources. software brings four different categorized hybrid configurations architectures mentioned above battery bank. exposed that cost electricity, and net present most suitable low configuration (600 kW solar photo-voltaic/10 biomass generator/50 generator/1000 kWh battery/200 bidirectional converter) is $0.222/kWh $0.922 M. benefits in terms reduced emissions improved economics. use resource optimal modelling provides 45.5% return investment, 49.4% internal rate return, payback period 2.04 years, discounted 2.25 years from without photo-voltaic component.
